Karoshi : Overwork Syndrome

According to the last blog, this week, I would like to inform you about "Karoshi".

Karoshi is the Japanese language that means “Death from Overwork”.  It’s actually well-known In Japan. This is because of the fact that Japanese people prefer working hard to relaxing.  They’re very serious about working.  Since the World War II, Japanese people have died more and more by Karoshi.  They had to work hard, also work overtime (O.T.).  Some people died young, just 30-40 years old!  This is due to 150-300 hours overwork a month, or around 5-10 hours a day.  As a research shows that more than 6 million Japanese workers work 60 hours a week normally, that lead them to be ill easily.

Nowadays, Karoshi is not only happened with Japanese people anymore, but also it is going to come up in many countries.  Ambiguous economic affairs, turmoil politics, business running, money, family are the prior factors. These causes are able to make people all over the world die increasingly.
In Thailand, research also shows that around 67% of all Thai people risk to be ill from work increasing, that means they might be Karoshi in the future.  Both men and women can burn out if they work without carefulness; not sleep enough, always stress, not exercise, etc.

Additionally, overworking is able to bring you about many diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure problem, gout, renal failure, emphysema. These diseases are due to bad habit both eating and working.  Moreover, it also brings you about impotence and neurosis because of nervousness.

However, this disease will not appear immediately.  You can consider yourself that “Do you risk to be Karoshi?”  By check these symptoms…

  • Headache
  • Muscle plain
  • Stupefy
  • Dizzy
  •  Nauseous
  • Food bored
  • Difficult Sleeping
  • Backache
  • Unable to see distinctly

If you have any symptoms, you should to do follow these ways…
  • Take more rest
  • Travel
  • Manage your time
  • Sleep deeply for 6-8 hours
  • Eat benefit food
  • Exercise
  • During your work, break for 10-15 minutes an hour
These are all advice that you can do to avoid the Karoshi.  The most important is you have to plan your schedule time in each day.  Don’t forget to relax, even though you enjoy it. If you have to face the problems, you can express your feeling or inside emotion with your family, your friends, or someone you respect to.  I hope that these ways will help you. Ok, thanks for your into.  Hope you HAPPY with your LIFE.  Bye
